Birchip Fairy Doors
The Birchip Neighbourhood House is thrilled to introduce a joyful and community-driven art project that combines storytelling, creativity, and public space activation — The Ceramic Fairy Doors of Birchip.
This whimsical initiative aims to transform the town centre into a place of wonder and connection, inviting people of all ages to explore, imagine, and celebrate the rich diversity within our community.
Artist Kristy Dean with the help of local students has created a whimsical and inclusive ceramic fairy door trail throughout the town centre of Birchip that celebrates creativity, diversity, and community connection while also enhancing local tourism.
The trail will feature approximately 10–15 handcrafted ceramic fairy doors, each representing a uniquely imagined fairy character. These fairies will reflect the diverse identities and lived experiences of our community, fostering a sense of belonging and delight for all.
Each fairy character will be designed to represent the wide diversity found in our town. The fairies will embody a broad range of identities including different ages, abilities, cultural backgrounds, and gender expressions. Representation will include: First Nations people, Multicultural backgrounds, People with disabilities, LGBTQ+ community members, Elders and children
